Who is Really in Charge of the OBA?
They say that Craig Cannonier is in charge. But, it's Bob Richards and Michael Dunkley who seem to be leading the Opposition charge.
Take yesterday's bizarre challenge by Bob Richards to debate Premier Paula Cox. Isn't that a challenge that the leader of their party should be making? Or, are they so afraid that their leader is too much of, as Bob Richards said, a "colt" to take on the challenge of debating the Premier? And, if Craig is too much of a colt to debate Premier Cox, isn't he too much of a colt to lead the country? Party PRO Curtis Williams:
Such a challenge confirms the OBA is all talk as Bob Richards will have a chance to debate the Premier & Party Leader during the budget debate next month. Unless the OBA is planning another leadership change between now and the General Election, I would expect Craig Cannonier to represent the OBA if there was a debate, rather than the man that called him a "colt."
The PLP's candidate in Constituency #11, Neville Tyrrell added that he is ready, willing and able to debate Bob Richards. In 2007, Tyrrell turned what was a safe UBP seat into a marginal with an impressive gain. Mr. Tyrrell:
Bob Richards will have a chance to debate the Premier in the House of Assembly during the Budget debate, but I think it's more important to the voters of Devonshire East to have a debate with his opponent in the next General Election.
The people on the doorsteps of Constituency 11 are telling me that they are tired of his constant negativity. Bermuda is not another world, and if he agrees to debate me, I will talk about how the PLP is guiding Bermuda through these troubled economic waters. People want to hear solutions, not just talk. I look forward to sharing with the people in Constituency 11 what the PLP Government is doing to support our people during these tough times.
Given Mr. Richards' eagerness to debate, we look forward to him accepting Mr. Tyrrell's challenge.
