Progressive Labour Party delegates were in particularly high spirits on Saturday night when hundreds came together in all their finery for the annual banquet.

Leader Ewart Brown had called the election the day before, putting an end to months of speculation, a clear relief to everyone involved.

Whispers about divisions within the party seemed a long way off with both former leaders Dame Jennifer Smith and Alex Scott sitting at the head table with Dr. Brown.

One election candidate told us: "It was certainly an indication that if there is any animosity, it didn't show. Mr. Scott gave a gift to the leader. The spirit is very unified." MORE! »
