Bermuda's Big Boston Splash II
This week, Bermuda made another big splash in Boston, one of our key gateway tourism markets. Boston is served by daily direct flights to Bermuda.
Premier Ewart Brown and Bermuda Tourism officials were on hand at the 2009 Deutsche Bank Championship and for the second sold out Bermuda Night at Fenway Park. At both events, our upcoming golf and spa season was promoted.
In this photo, Tourism Board Chairman E. Michael Jones, Premier and Minister of Tourism & Transport Dr. Ewart Brown and Jomari Douglas of Bermuda Tourism look through the latest edition of the Bermuda Golf Guide at the 17th hole pavilion during the 2009 Duetsche Bank Championship in Norton, Massachusetts.
The event was a huge success. About 500 golf fans filled out Bermuda Tourism data entry cards based on their interest in a Bermuda vacation. Given Bermuda's upcoming spa and golf season, this well targeted promotion was quite successful.
Bermuda Night at a sold out Fenway Park was well received once again.
This photo features Ed Johnson of Boston. He won a Tucker's Point Hotel & Spa prize package which included airfare for two from JetBlue, bathrobes and other goodies from Bermuda Tourism and a set of golf clubs and hotel stay from Tucker's Point. The prize was presented to Mr. Johnson at Fenway Park by Premier Ewart Brown, Minister of Tourism and Transport and Liz Smith, Tucker's Point Marketing Manager.
The well-targeted promotional effort featured broadcast promotions to the large and loyal "Red Sox Nation" as well as specially targeted promotions, such as the one featured above, that promoted Bermuda vacations to luxury box ticket holders.
The final photo features John Casey of Braintree, Massachusetts. He won a golf and spa vacation in Bermuda which included airfare for two from JetBlue, bathrobes and other goodies from Bermuda Tourism, a set of golf clubs from Nike Golf, a round of golf at Port Royal Golf Course and a hotel stay and spa treatment at Elbow Beach Hotel. The prize was presented to Mr. Casey by Premier Ewart Brown, Minister of Tourism and Transport and Clem Lamarre of Nike Golf.
In response to the successful effort, Premier Brown offered the following comment:
There was spirited cooperation from our tourism partners over Labour Day Weekend in Massachusetts. They offered discounts and giveaways, hosted events and sent staff which all helped to make our focused marketing strategy a success. Their full participation allowed us to make a maximum impact on the Boston market.
We look forward to continuing our promotional blitz in our targeted markets. These promotional efforts are helping Bermuda soften the impact that the international economic crisis is having on our tourism industry.
