Your Voice Heard: Government Reviewing Public Comments
The PLP Government gave you an opportunity to voice your thoughts on gaming in Bermuda. We released a comprehensive Green Paper which concluded that well regulated gaming would create up to 3,000 new jobs and $146 million a year and asked for your input. We received 43 formal submissions. We are in the process of reviewing those submissions. Premier Brown:
I wish to thank those organisations and members of the public who have taken the time to commit their views to writing. Full account will be taken of the views expressed.
The House of Assembly will take up the Green Paper on Friday, 7th May. The public are reminded that a "green paper" is a tentative government report and is the first step in a process that may see legislative change. While there will be no vote, members of the public are encouraged to tune in to Friday's debate.
We look forward to this important debate on a measure that will strengthen our tourism industry and create jobs in Bermuda.
