UBP Joins PLP in Support of Historic Bill; Swan Praises Premier
Premier Brown and the PLP government shepherded a historic piece of legislation through the House of Assembly that will help revitilise St. George's, create new jobs and upgrade our tourism product. Even the UBP supported the landmark deal, acknowledging that the PLP government hit a home run. Opposition Leader Kim Swan praised the Premier and the effort. Swan:
Many waited and almost died on the vine waiting for something to happen, I rejoice with Mr. Bazarian and it was a well delivered speech by the Premier.
This legislation will bring more tourism dollars to St. George's, create thousands of good jobs and turn an eyesore into a luxury resort that will attract more tourists to our island.
The UBP could only muster tepid criticism of the legislation. They realise the historic nature of this legislation and their party supported the effort.
This is big, folks. This is going to create lots of jobs for Bermudians, bring more tourism dollars to St. George' s and attract tourists to our island.
The platinum period of tourism is only beginning and it's a testament to the strong and capable leadership of the Premier and the PLP government that we were able to get this deal done with support from MPs on both sides of the aisle.
