A Clear Choice in Constituency #31

Responding to Wayne Furbert's critique of UBP candidate Charlie Swan, PLP Chairman David Burt said, "The difference between Charlie Swan and Marc Bean is clear. Senator Bean is a rising star in the PLP. He's a leader and an outspoken advocate on behalf of Bermuda's young people, and, he's taken a leadership role in the PLP's comprehensive plan to crackdown on crime. He's also served capably as junior Minister of Transport, Tourism, Environment and Sport. He's exactly the kind of strong leader and effective advocate the people of Southampton West Central need in the House of Assembly."

Burt continued, "As a member of the Senate, Charlie Swan has had a number of opportunities to step up and lead. But, Charlie hasn't led on a single issue. Instead, he's faded into the the background. As Wayne Furbert noted, it's clear that Charlie Swan is part of the problem with the United Bermuda Party. The people of Southampton West Central deserve better than to be represented by someone who has proven to be a meek and ineffective member of an ineffective opposition."

Minister El James, Minister of Environment and Sport, also praised his Junior Minister, Bean. "Working with Marc Bean is a delight," said Minister James. "He's a hard worker and he brings a unique perspective to the job. His knowledge of the community and the needs of young people in particular is quite impressive. Marc Bean truly is a rising star in the PLP. I'm confident that Marc will be an able servant for the people of Southampton West Central."

Minister Dale Butler, who worked with Bean on the Mirrors programme, agreed, "The Mirrors programme is such a success due to the hard work of people like Marc Bean. He's shown such a passion for helping our young people achieve their true potential and reduce crime across the island. I look forward to having this rising star join us in the House of Assembly."
