Bermuda Music Festival: The Gift That Keeps on Giving
It's not just the spectacular show, the international press and the initial tourism arrivals that surround the Bermuda Music Festival that make it a success. Now, Beyonce is promoting our island as, according to her, "one of the most exotic places I've ever travelled to." The Royal Gazette reports:
Ms Knowles is featured in a video for Walmart where she talks about her experiences on the Island.
The three-part video shows her in various locations around the Island including a beach, Crystal Caves and the Fairmont Southampton doing a photo shoot for her clothing line, House of Dereon.
The end of the first video shows the performer doing sound checks before her October 2 performance at the National Stadium and footage from the performance itself while Ms Knowles does the narration.
In the video she said: "One of the best thing about my life is seeing the world.
"In my 12 years of being a professional artist, I've seen so many wondrous places. And Bermuda was one of the most exotic places I've ever travelled to."
Ms Knowles explained she and her mother, Tina, decided to do the campaign on the Island because "what better backdrop than the Atlantic Ocean".
Our island is enchanting. And, by having an A-list music festival that attracts A-list talent, Bermuda gets A-list publicity. If we are to continue to be a place for the discerning tourist with plenty of disposable income, we need validators and influentials like Beyonce hyping our island. She's an international trendsetter and her kind words and seal of approval helps put heads in the beds and money in the pockets of Bermudians.
The Music Festival is a spectacular show that showcases our spectacular island and continues to pay dividends today.
