PLP's Leadership on Parental Responsibility Wins Praise from the UBP
UBP MP Donte Hunt praised PLP Senator and Attorney General Kim Wilson for taking the lead on parental responsibility legislation. Mr. Hunt:
There is a widespread view in the community that a breakdown in parental guidance and control is one of the underlying reasons for the problem of youth alienation that has manifested itself in shocking incidents of violence. I am pleased that the Attorney General has recently announced that government lawyers have been looking at overseas examples of parental responsibility legislation. We support this move because we believe something positive can emerge from it.
Hunt is the third UBP member to heap praise on the PLP of late. Grant Gibbons and Christian Dunleavy recently praised the PLP's effective leadership as well.
When it comes to combating anti-social behaviour, the PLP government is moving forward with substantive reforms. Forty five new police officers will be patrolling the streets and parental responsibility legislation is being crafted.
