Interest in Day Care, Bermuda College Up
Thanks to the PLP Government, more Bermudians are taking advantage of Bermuda College and expected to benefit from day care. Today's daily featured two articles stating that enrollments are up at Bermuda College and likely to be up at day care centres across the island. This is a clear indication that the PLP government's accomplishments are enabling more Bermudians to get an education and make sure their kids have proper care.
The Royal Gazette on day care:
Government is working to establish more child day care facilities as it pushes ahead with plans for subsidised care for Bermudian children...
According to the Government, it could help up to 400 families make ends meet.
The fact that more Bermudians are going to be able to send their kids to day care is a sign that the PLP government's policy is helping hard working families. And, while upwards of 400 families will benefit immediately, thousands of families will benefit in the future when they begin having children.
But, it's not just beginning of life education that's important to the PLP Government, our new college benefit is enabling more Bermudians to receive higher education at Bermuda College. The fact that enrollments are up is a sign that the system is working and helping hard working Bermudians who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to receive the higher education they need to advance their careers. The Royal Gazette:
As registration begins at Bermuda College, the school is preparing itself for its biggest class ever — with over 700 new applicants already — thanks in large part to the new free tuition scheme.
Free tuition will help many finance their way through school but the offer is not available to everyone. While new students will receive free tuition as long as they are Bermudian, lack a Bachelor's degree and are enrolled in approved courses, returning students must have earned a 2.0 grade point average in their previous semester to be eligible.
When it comes to helping working Bermudians, the PLP government is getting the job done. That's really what it's all about isn't it? Improving peoples lives - and, we're proud to say that the PLP government is delivering results that work for working people.
