Hon. Derrick Burgess, JP, MP

Derrick Burgess continues to be outspoken on issues affecting the workers in Bermuda. He works tirelessly to protect the interests of Bermudians, ensuring that there is justice and fair play in the work place. Having previously served as the Minister of Labour & Immigration, he was appointed Minister of Works & Engineering immediately following the 2007 general election.

Patrice Minors, JP, MP
Constituency #10 - Smith's North
Patrice Minors, one of the first Progressive Labour Party Government Senators, became a Member of Parliament in the 2003 General Election. Ms. Minors has a wealth of knowledge and experience at the managerial level gained form her experiences with the Bank of Bermuda, Lombard Odier International Trust Company (Bermuda) Limited and most recently at Butterfield Bank where she assumed the position of Assistant Vice President of Trust Services in February 2007. In the 2007, she defeated then-Opposition Leader Michael Dunkley by a wide margin.

Hon. Glenn Blakeney, JP, MP
Constituency #13 - Devonshire North Central
Glenn Blakeney is the sitting MP for Constituency 13. He has worked tirelessly to effect timely resolutions to his constituency concerns. Mr. Blakeney was successful in efforts to have roads resurfaced in the Cedar Park area and was also instrumental in having street lights erected in his neighboring constituencies. He is currently working with a private firm and the Bermuda Housing Corporation to implement CCTV security surveillance as a crime prevention measure, a proposal that is expected to be completed shortly. Glenn Blakeney serves as Minister of Environment, Youth and Sport.

Deputy Premier Paula Cox, JP, MP
Constituency #14 - Devonshire North West
Paula Cox currently serves as Deputy Premier of the Government of Bermuda as well as the Minister of Finance and Economic Development. She has had varied experience in Government having held a number of Cabinet portfolios. Deputy Premier Cox has gained respect across party lines for her brilliance as an articulate young lawyer and administrator.

Hon. Walter Roban, JP, MP
Constituency #15 - Pembroke East
A former Senator, Walter Roban held the Junior Ministerial portfolios of Tourism & Transport and Education and Development in Government. As the MP for Pembroke East, he recognizes that this is an urbanized area and therefore commits himself to working with residents to identify green spaces and community areas. Mr. Roban puts his constituency first, focusing on improving street lighting, paving roads, identifying derelict structures and redeveloping affordable family homes. He currently serves in Cabinet as a Minister without Portfolio.

Michael Weeks is a lifelong resident of Pembroke. Born and raised in the Glebe Road area, and currently residing on St. John's Road, Pembroke, he is indeed a man of this community. Michael is the newest PLP MP. Michael is currently the Vice President of the Western Stars Sports Club in Pembroke and is a member of the Berkeley Educational Society Management Committee.

Wayne Perinchief, CPM, JP, MP
Constituency #17 - Pembroke Central
Wayne Perinchief is knowledgeable about law, order and crime, and is well positioned to recommend and make policy designed to help bring about positive changes in the community. He is a former Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs who focused on actively involved in bringing legislation to improve the lives of seniors and the disabled as well as bringing about the fair treatment of consumers, the enforcement of equity, fairness and equality in the workplace through CURE and Workforce Empowerment Laws.

Neletha Butterfield, MBE, JP, MP
Constituency #18 - Pembroke West Central
Voted Bermudian Of The Year in 1988, Neletha Butterfield is a single mother of three whose own pursuit of education as an adult enabled her to provide for her family. A member of Parliament since 1998, she also served as a Senator and as spokesperson for Education, Community & Cultural Affair, Youth Development, Sports, Parks & Recreation and Women's Issues. Ms. Butterfield has also served in Cabinet with distinction having completed two tours with the Ministry of Environment another with Telecommunications & E-Commerce.

Ashfield DeVent, JP, MP
Constituency #21 - Pembroke South East
A former Cabinet member having served as the Minister of Works, Engineering and Housing, Mr. DeVent was Bermuda's representative in the United Nations for the Southern Countries on the Sustainable Development Commission. He looks forward to continuing his work with Government and the police service in addressing the basic needs of his community, including addressing the issues involving anti-social behaviour and improving the collection of court ordered child maintenance payments for all primary care givers.

Mr. Scott was sworn in as Premier of Bermuda on July 28, 2003. His tenure from 2003 through November 11, 2006 ushered in an era of community awareness and involvement in governance that was heralded as a cornerstone of his administration. He pressed for and achieved the lowering of tuition for Bermudian students seeking higher education in the UK; piloted the creation of an Ombudsman for Bermuda through Parliament, thus providing citizens with an advocate (free of charge) to challenge government when they believe they have suffered an injustice. His Cabinet generated over sixty initiatives referred to as the 'Social Agenda' aimed at helping the "Have Nots Have More."

Dale Butler, JP, MP
Constituency #25 - Warwick North East
Throughout his terms as a Member of Parliament, Minister Butler has cultivated a reputation as a responsive, relentless, grassroots constituency representative who has a sincere appreciation for his constituents. His dedicated work ethic in Warwick North East has been met with success, including the installation of speed bumps at Spring Hill, the paving of the railway 'right-of- way' from Cobbs Hill to Bright Temple and the installation of 'Go Slow' signs on private roads. His commitment to his Constituency is evidenced by the numerous clinics, events and public meetings he has held.

Elvin James, a former member of Parliament, was born and raised in Warwick and has maintained strong roots in the community. Minister James has a background in education, sports, administration, and youth programmes. A well known and recognized local figure, Minister James is a strong advocate for his constituency by promoting locally organised community based programmes. Immediately following the 2007 general election, Elvin James was appointed Minister of the Environment and Sport. James currently serves as Minister of Education.

From humble beginnings as a dishwasher at a pub in Hamilton, Zane is now owner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Island Construction, one of Bermuda's major diversified local companies. Zane is a conscious, civic-minded citizen who throws his company's support behind youth, educational, sports and faith-based organisations.

Hon. K.H. Randolph Horton, JP, MP
Constituency #32 - Southampton West
Minister Horton was elected to Parliament in the General Election of November 9th, 1998, and can be rightly described as a fiercely dedicated, passionate, fiery and forceful individual. In sports, education, tourism promotion and in political circles, his name is also synonymous with achievement. Minster Horton has served in various positions in Cabinet and was previously charged with the Ministry of Education.

Terry Lister, JP, MP
Constituency #33 - Sandys South
Terry Lister oversaw the passage of the CURE Amendment Act which requires employers of ten or more employees to report the racial composition of their workforce and to include the employment level, the income range, and the benefits given. He also oversaw the passage of the amendments to the Defence Act which allowed the Bermuda Regiment to enlist recruits upon selection, thereby rebuilding the strength of the Regiment. Immediately following the 2007 general election, he was appointed Minister of Energy, Telecommunications and E-Commerce. He served in that position through July 2009.

Dennis Lister, JP, MP
Constituency #35 - Sandys North Central
Dennis Lister was first elected to Parliament in the General Election of 1989. During the first PLP cabinet he served as Minister of Youth & Sport and Minister of the Environment. During his time at the Ministry of Environment he has oversaw the restructuring of the Ministry and attended the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa. Minister Scott follows in the great tradition of the Hon. C Eugene Cox CBE JP MP as a representative who is available, responsive, and reliable. Having listened to his constituents some of his accomplishments include the completion of the sea wall restoration on Boaz Island and the replacement of doors, windows and screening at BIG Units. He recently used the Hustle Truck program to clean up the vacant lot on Cambridge Road and was vital in the ongoing development of 100 affordable homes on Ireland Island.
