John Gibbons is the PLP Candidate for St. George's West in the upcoming
general election.

He was born May 19, 1974 to John & Christine Gibbons in Paget, Bermuda. He attended St. George's Preparatory School, The Berkeley Institute and Northlands Secondary School. Following high school, he attended Bermuda College.

Mr. Gibbons currently works at the Department of Health. Prior to this, he worked at Bermuda Air Conditioning Ltd for seven years.

Growing up in St. George's, helping his father on the farm as well as on the fishing boat, gave Mr. Gibbons a hands-on appreciation of hard work and a love for our land. He learned that anything you do in life needs to be carefully and thoughtfully cultivated and managed. His experiences fishing and farming with his father instilled in him the feeling that there is something very rewarding about working with the sun, the soil and the water and watching the fruits of your labour literally come into fruition.

Mr. Gibbons has had a lifelong interest in politics.  He was politically active as a student at Bermuda College, and also has spoken on the subject to audiences at Rider College and Rutgers University.

Cricket is one his favourite pastimes. For him, Cup Match is the most important Bermudian holiday as it is the one time each year that ALL Bermudians can gather and celebrate their history and culture. Mr Gibbons remembers with pleasure the Annual Bermuda Cup Match when he was one the commentators for the event held at Wellington Oval on the Fresh TV broadcast.

Another of Mr. Gibbons' passions is energy conservation and he works hard at trying to find
ways and means to ensure that Bermuda we can reduce its dependency on fuel and pursue alternative energy sources.

Mr. Gibbons is a member of East End Mini Yacht Club and St. George's Cricket Club. Currently he serves as the Captain of East Mini Cricket Team, which plays against Woody's at the annual Any Port in a Storm Cricket Match.
